Women and girls are being offered a free three-month gym membership as part of a project to encourage more people to take up exercise.

Hertsmere women aged between 14 and 35 who have not exercised for a year, can take part in the scheme being run by Hertsmere Leisure in partnership with Hertsmere Borough Council.

During the three months, participants must commit to exercise three times a week for at least 30 minutes and agree to be weighed and measured at regular intervals.

The results of the research will be used to help inform the leisure trust about the benefits of short and long-term lifestyle changes.

Councillor Brenda Batten, who is responsible for leisure, culture and health, said: “This is a fabulous opportunity for young women and girls to get fit, and what better time to start than at the beginning of the year.”
