North London is getting younger and bucking the ageing trend across the rest of the UK, recent figures suggest.

Data released by the Office of National Statistics (ONS) showed the boroughs of Barnet, Enfield and Haringey all saw their average ages drop by up to two years between 1989 and 2011.

Harrow was the only north London borough in which the mean age rose, with an increase of up to two years.

The ONS statistics showed that areas of central London are seeing populations become, on average, up to four years younger than they were in the late 1980s.

Barnet had an average age of 36 to 38, while Haringey and Enfield this was 32 to 34.

Following its increase, the average age of Harrow’s population rose to 36 to 38 compared to 25 years ago.

This is due to migration, not because British people are having more children.

DJFearRoss, I suspect you're correct. Go back to the 1980s and a non anglo/saxon face or accent was unusual in Enfield. Now migrants are the majority, and come from cultures where having a larger number of children is normal. What this headline really illustrates is how popular North London is as a step-up for migrants.

If you don't want to be overcrowded then vote for the BNP.
If you vote for the BNP your children will be able to afford a house.
If you vote for the BNP your children will be able to get a decent job when they leave school.
If you vote for the BNP you will be secure in your old age.
If you vote for another party then you are a triator to your own kind and guilty of sedition.

@Ponderman
Never in a million years. Things maybe bad, but they're not that bad. I welcome all people of all races, faiths and nationalities. All I would like is some control on the numbers, that's all.

Well looking at the latest YouGov poll virtually nobody is going to vote BNP so I would go back to listening to your Nazi marching songs. As for the comment about Enfield the 2011 census showed that over 50% of the population were White British. The Anglo-Saxons were immigrants too of course.

This is the elephant in the room that no polictician will discuss. British people might be willling to accept the current mix of people if everyone was having the same number of children and we could expect a blending over time - or at worst, a fixed proportion of people living apart in their ghettos

If the people who live apart are growing, however, it means that the native population wll eventually be subsumed. And due to exponetntial growth it can happen very quickly.
