Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Trust has pledged to reduce emissions by 10 per cent in the coming year.
Aileen McLeish, chairman of the trust, and Andrew Liles, chief executive, signed a sustainability commitment to reduce the carbon footprint and protect the environment for future generations by saving more than £200,000 in fuel costs.
Ms McLeish said: “It is a priority for the trust and for the NHS nationally to reduce its carbon footprint and to promote healthier lifestyles that are better for the environment.
“We encourage our staff, patients and visitors to join in helping to make our pledge a reality.”
During climate week 2014, which runs from March 3 to March 9, the hospitals will have interactive stands to show how the trust will make changes for a more sustainable future.
