Students rocked the night away at Hinchley Wood School with a charity concert to raise money for the schools major fundraising campaign.

The evening, named 2Centres Rocks, was organised by eight year 11 students to help contribute to the £200,000 needed to complete the building of a new sixth form centre and student support centre.

The group, made up of Ben McQuigg, Jasper Elliott, Elliot Proudhon-Smith, Tom Bywater, Mia Frank, Georgia McGuiness, Meg Stollery and Miranda Clements, divvied up the responsibilities of publicity, refreshments and chairman to make the concert on Friday, January 31, a success.

Planning for the event began in October, and with the help of three teachers, open auditions were held in December.

After weeks of rehearsals, students took to the stage to show off their singing and musical talents.

Student Ben McQuigg said: “After four months of planning, organising and rehearsing, we hope everyone had a very exciting and enjoyable evening.

“It has been a real team effort, not just from my music mentor colleagues but also our fellow students, teachers and music staff.”
