A church will start celebrations marking 100 years serving the community of Pinner this week.

St. Luke’s Parish was founded with a Mass service in the front room of a home in Hatch End in 1914.

To mark the foundation day of the church, now in Love Lane, Pinner, members of the congregation will hold the first of their anniversary celebrations tomorrow.

A century to the day since the church's first mass was held by Fr. John Caulfield in 1914, Archbishop Vincent Nichols, will lead a service at 6pm.

The church has also organised a calendar of events for the year ahead which will include a pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela for 40 members of the congregation in May, and a flower festival in June.
