A Kingston charity supporting children with cancer and life-limiting conditions as well as their families, has won some money.

Momentum was awarded £3,000 by Lloyds Bank Community Fund allowing the charity to continue taking children and their families on short breaks to their two holiday homes in New Forest.

The independent charity in Park Road, Kingston, helps around 150 families of children with cancer being treated at Kingston Hospital. This year marks the charity’s tenth anniversary.

Nikki Howard, a member of the fundraising team at Momentum, said: “The money is going to make a big difference.

“The Core Family Support programme comes in three parts, emotional and physical support and then we also send families on short breaks to the New Forest.

“It can be a very traumatic time when children are being treated for cancer so the trips allow families to get away for a short break.

“We always say we are a helping hand in their journey through cancer. We try and make it as positive as possible.”

The Lloyds Bank Community Fund which is in its second year also contributed £300 to other Kingston charities, The Fircroft Trust and Kingston Carers’ Network.
