A GREENWICH church is looking for volunteers to help keep it open seven days a week.

The current building at St Alfege, designed by Nicholas Hawskmoor, Wren’s famous pupil, is nearly 300 years old and regularly attracts tourists who flock to the Greenwich World Heritage Site.

Now the church needs more people to come forward and help it stay open every day from 10am to 4pm.

Pairs of volunteers will welcome visitors to the church and answer simple questions about the building and its history.

They will be given training in all aspects of their role, and free tea or coffee and biscuits will also be provided.

Volunteers must be over 18 years of age. Slots are two to three hours long and can be weekly or monthly.
