COMPLAINTS about the conduct of Greenwich Council's leader have been passed to the London Labour Party, News Shopper understands.

Councillor Chris Roberts has been under fire since leaving a sweary voicemail on the phone of a cabinet colleague about the Run to the Beat marathon, for which he received a written warning by the local party last year.

A standards committee later ruled the incident did not amount to bullying.

But there has been disquiet among some in the party that the terms of the committee meeting were too narrow, not looking at allegations of a conflict of interest surrounding the marathon and Cllr Roberts' Greenwich Starting Blocks charity or allegations - denied by the leader - that he threw a set of keys at a cleaner back in 2009.

News Shopper understands Greenwich’s Labour Local Campaign Forum - which helped select potential candidates for the upcoming local elections - is among those who have now written to the regional office, asking about an investigation.

But despite repeated requests by this newspaper to confirm whether an investigation is taking place, the London Labour Party has failed to respond.

Labour's shadow minister for London, Tooting MP Sadiq Khan has also not responded.

Deputy leader of the council Councillor Peter Brooks said he was unaware of any further investigation taking place.
