Boyzone, not racehorses, will be the main attraction at Epsom Downs Racecourse when they light up the night this summer.

Tickets went on sale this week after one of the world’s biggest boy bands were confirmed to perform at an evening race meeting.

The Irish boy band, who went on their 20th anniversary tour last year, have notched up six number one UK singles and sold 25 million records.

Boyzone's most famous line-up is Ronan Keating, Keith Duffy, Shane Lynch and Mikey Graham together with Stephen Gately who died in 2009.

The remaining four are expected to perform their greatest hits - including When the Going Gets Tough, No Matter What and Love Me for a Reason - at the racecourse.

Back in the 90s, X Factor judge Louise Walsh put the boy band together and they made a comeback in 2007. Their new single, Light Up the Night, is from their latest album BZ20.

Rupert Trevelyan, London director of Jockey Club Racecourses, says: "We are thrilled to welcome the ever popular boy band Boyzone to the Epsom stage this year and they look a certainty to continue the popularity of the Epsom Live Nights."

In the past years, Simply Red, JLS, Madness, James Morrison, Bananarama and Mike and the Mechanics have all performed at the historic home of the Epsom Derby.

Simon Durrant, general manager for the racecourse, says: "Our music nights take place after racing and offer our racegoers extra entertainment on top of what is a great evening of sporting spectacle on the world famous turf of the Investec Derby.

"With new bands we attract new racegoers and we look forward to announcing further acts in the forthcoming weeks."

There is a 10 per cent discount on the first 1,000 tickets sold.

Adults - £35, Children aged five to 17 - £20, Under fives - free.
