Three men have been arrested in connection with an attack at a railway station that left a man in hospital.

Thugs left one man with head injuries and damaged a train at Edmonton Green Station in Church Street, Edmonton, on Tuesday.

Horrified passengers on the 6.15pm train from Liverpool Street to Enfield Town saw men smash windows and assault the 28-year-old man.

Two of the men, aged 37 and 21 from Edmonton, were arrested this morning on suspicion of causing violent disorder.

A third man from Poplar has also been arrested in connection with the incident.

A 23-year-old man from Mile End was arrested at the scene on suspicion of criminal damage and causing grievous bodily harm.

The man has been bailed until Wednesday, March 5.

Chief Superintendent Paul Brogden, of British Transport Police, said: “This was an appalling attack that caused significant concern to a large number of passengers on that train.

“Our investigation has made significant progress since Tuesday night and today’s arrests should reassure the community that we will not tolerate any violence or disorder on the network.

“Whilst today’s arrests are significant we still want to hear from anyone who has key information about what took place.

“If you were on board the train or at the station on Tuesday night, I’d urge you to contact police.”
