Student therapists are giving their helping hands to a charity that helps people with learning disabilities in the Jewish community.

Nine students from Goldsmiths University and the Institute of Integrative Arts and Education are saving Kisharon tens of thousands of pounds by running sessions in art, dance and movement voluntarily.

The project at the Hendon-based charity provides valuable work experience for the volunteers and free supervised sessions for clients of the charity.

Joe Coogan, Kisharon’s director of operations, said: “Our adult service users are benefiting greatly from these therapies which help them to express themselves more easily while students get the chance to work in a professional setting under expert supervision.

“Their creativity and sensitivity to our clients make this an excellent collaboration and their help has enabled us to extend our remit without compromising the quality of our service.”
