Always been a Shirley Bassey fan but never managed to catch her live?  Well, there may be another way to experience her dramatic stage presence.

Joe Longthorne will be bringing his musical impressions and impressive voice to the Epsom Playhouse for a journey of music and fun.

Perhaps best known for his Bassey impressions he received the ultimate accolade when the woman herself said: "Joe can do me better than I can do myself!".

During his long career, Longthorne has received gold and platinum discs for his albums, enjoyed sell-out concerts at the Royal Albert Hall and toured Australia several times.

It was through London Weekend Television’s series Search for a Star in 1981 that Longthorne first became known to the British television audiences as a singer and impressionist.

Proving popular, he was given his own prime time show The Joe Longthorne Show that ran from 1988 to 1991.

An appearance at the Royal Variety Performance in 1989 secured his place as one of the UK's top entertainers, but following this, he was taken ill with cancer.

Responding well to treatment for the lymphoma, he was back on stage with a UK tour and a trip to Australia.

When he was most seriously ill in 2006, he underwent a bone marrow transplant that was to save his life.

Later that year he performed again to a sell-out audience at the London Palladium and in 2007 was awarded a lifetime achievement award by the Variety Club of Great Britain.  He was made an MBE in December 2012.
