A support group for people with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) wants to set the record straight.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder Richmond partnered with the parenting officer for Richmond and Kingston to set up educational courses and parenting sessions.

The courses help people develop the skills needed to manage and support children suffering from the neuro-developmental condition.

The 10-week course will be held at the Windham Croft Centre in Kew every Friday and, after the first series, ADHD Richmond hopes to support Richmond and Kingston councils in extending the initiative to all affected parents and carers.

Val Ivens coach for the Richmond ADHD said: “We’re thrilled to be working so positively with the councils and look forward to further opportunities to extend the knowledge and training of those professionals working with these bright and creative children.”

The support group has also encouraged Richmond Council to promote more ADHD training courses for professionals and for young people suffering with the condition.
