Chance to stand for Barnet Youth Parliament
Aspiring politicians who want to shape the future of the borough - and country - can stand for the next youth parliament elections.
People aged 11 to 18 are encouraged to put themselves forward and run as candidates to become Barnet’s next member of the UK Youth Parliament.
The four winning candidates will represent Barnet at national meetings, the annual sitting and the House of Commons debate.
They will also have the chance to influence local and national businesspeople, leaders and politicians.
Elections will take place from February 24 and voting closes at 9pm on March 7.
Barnet Council’s cabinet nember for education, children and families, Councillor Reuben Thompstone, said: “This is a great opportunity for young people to fight for the interests of their peers and make a real difference.
“It is also a chance to gain valuable leadership skills and give politicians, such as myself, a better understanding of what is most important to young people.”
Unique voting cards will be available at all schools and colleges from the start of February.
