Elderly people are being reminded to seek help as soon as they feel unwell as part of a new health campaign.

NHS doctors are warning pensioners not to “soldier on” and to speak to their pharmacists, friends or carers about any ailments.

GP Dr Debbie Frost, chairman of Barnet Clinical Commissioning Group, said: “Older people often like to just keep going and not make a fuss if they are feeling a bit ill, but that’s not always the best thing for your health.

“Particularly for older and more frail people, it is much better to nip a health problem in the bud before you need a trip to the hospital or A&E.”
