A teenage boy is to appear in court today after a woman was struck on the head from behind with a metal bar.
The attack happened the woman, in her 20s and from Epsom, was walking along Bracken Path, in Epsom, at 8pm on Monday. She was approached from behind by a male and hit on the head, with what police believe to be a metal bar.
She suffered minor injuries to her forehead.
A teenager was arrested a short time later.
A 14-year-old boy, from Epsom, was charged yesterday with assault in connection with the offence.
He was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Guildford Magistrates’ Court today, January 22.
Detective Constable Adam Hewitt said: "This was a terrifying ordeal for the victim but thankfully she only suffered minor injuries as a result of the assault.
"No doubt this incident will stay with the victim for some time but I hope the quick arrest of a suspect goes some way to reassure the Epsom community."
