A charity has called on a former Barnet Youth Academy and Somalia footballer to help tackle obesity among people with learning disabilities.

The Larches Community, based in Rectory Lane, has brought in Mohamed Ibrahim and is hoping to host weekly coaching sessions for its clients if enough interest can be generated.

The former academy player once represented Somalia in a World Cup qualifying game and is aiming to hold training sessions at the indoor hall every Wednesday.

Organiser Ranu Radia said: “We’re keen to engage our clients in sport as much as possible.

"If enough people sign up, we can make this a weekly event."

Anyone over the age of 18 with learning disabilities or autism can take part in the sessions, which cost £5 per week.
