A nursing initiative set up at a private hospital in Enfield will be rolled out across the country.

Kings Oak and Cavell Hospital in The Ridgeway, Enfield, set up a scheme called ‘I Love the 6Cs’ in January 2013 to improve compassion and patient care.

The scheme introduced staff and patient forums as well as regular contact between senior management and patients.

Director of nursing Lorraine Kelly said: “The 6C initiative has proved to be very popular with the entire team at BMI The King’s Oak and Cavell Hospitals.

“Our strategy has been for continuous improvement and our initiative is part of an ongoing development process to embed its core values into each and every one of our team members.

“Patient centred care is our ethos at BMI The King’s Oak and Cavell Hospitals and our 6Cs initiative will empower our nurses, healthcare assistants and all team members to do their job with compassion, competence, care, courage and commitment, while communicating well with their patients and colleagues.”

The scheme will be rolled out by more than 60 hospitals across the UK owned by BMI.
