A man has pleaded guilty to causing the death of a cyclist and drink-driving.
Kingsley Gordon-Allen, 20, of Ashville Road in Leytonstone, pleaded guilty yesterday at Wood Green Crown Court to causing the death of 56-year-old Edward Orrey, from Cornwall.
Mr Orrey died in Gainsborough Road, near Leytonstone Tube station, on the morning of February 9 after Mr Gordon-Allen’s car collided with his bike.
Emergency services were called at around 6.35am but Mr Orrey was pronounced dead at the scene.
An inquest on February 13 heard Mr Gordon-Allen, who was driving a silver Peugeot 206, failed to stop at the scene but the abandoned vehicle was located a short while later in Bushwood, Leytonstone.
Officers later attended an address in Leyton and arrested three males, including Mr Gordon-Allen.
The other two men were released with no further action.
Mr Gordon-Allen was remanded in custody yesterday and will be sentenced on March 7 at Wood Green Crown Court.
