You Tube footage of a Peter Pan performer proposing to his co-star girlfriend live on stage has become a worldwide sensation.

Dutchman Sandor Sturbl, 28, turns to the audience at the end of the show at Glasgow's Hydro and professes his love for Lilly-Jane Young, before getting down on one knee and asking her to marry him - producing a blue sapphire and diamond engagement ring.

The audience erupt in cheers when Scottish Lilly-Jane, 22, breaks down in tears and replies “Yes” to the proposal.

Lilly-Jane, who has been going out with Sandor for more than a year, told the Daily Record, who posted a video of the proposal online, she thought it was a technical hitch at first and started to panic.

“I feel like the luckiest girl alive and can’t wait to marry Sandor," she added.

The Daily Record said the video had been viewed more than 50,000 times on its website.
