A man has been charged with possession of a gun after an incident in a kebab shop in the early hours on Sunday morning.

A man who allegedly pointed a gun at unarmed police officers at the restaurant in Water Lane, Tulse Hill, was wrestled to the ground after threatening staff and customers.

A gun was recovered by police, along with six rounds of ammunition.

It happened at about 4.10am on January 12, when customers reported that a man had threatened customers with a gun and then left.

When unarmed officers from Lambeth police arrived at the scene, the man is said to have returned with a firearm, before he was tackled by the officers.

Michael Andrade White 41, of Jelf Road, Brixton, was charged yesterday with possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition.

He will appear in custody at Camberwell Green Magistrates' Court  later today.
