Students at St George’s College are celebrating after receiving offers to study at Oxford and Cambridge universities.

This year could be the Weybridge school’s most successful year for Oxbridge places, with one in 10 students receiving offers.

Six students were offered places at Oxford to study a range of subjects from history to music, while four students, three of whom want to study maths, have been offered places at the Cambridge.

Student David Coe, who has been offered a place to study chemistry at Hertford College, Oxford, said: “St George’s has always inspired me to achieve my potential. I have always had a love for chemistry as it is always challenging me and allowing to me to improve on myself.

“I can’t wait to study it at Oxford.”

The news comes following the Christmas break as a reward for the hard work put in by the school and students during the competitive application process.

The school also said how proud it was of the efforts being made by all its other A-level students, many of whom are on track to join universities at the top of league tables.

Joe Peake, headmaster at St George’s College, said: “The trend of increasing Oxbridge success is something we are very proud of in the college.”
