Police have arrested a man who entered a kebab shop in Tulse Hill and threatened staff and customers with a firearm.
The man, aged 41, also pointed the weapon at unarmed officers at the scene who then wrestled him to the ground and made the arrest.
A gun was recovered along with six rounds of live ammunition.
Nobody was injured during the incident.
Police were called to the kebab shop in Water Lane, Tulse Hill, shortly before 4,10 am on Sunday morning when a customer reported that a man had entered the premises and threatened those present with a gun.
The suspect left the scene and armed officers began efforts to locate him. Meanwhile, unarmed officers from Lambeth police attended the kebab shop.
While the officers were at the scene, the suspect returned and them officers acted quickly to tackle the man, who was safely arrested and the firearm was recovered.
The suspect was placed in a police van and subsequently taken to hospital when officers became concerned for his health.

He has received treatment at a south London hospital where he remains at this time in a non-life-threatening condition.
Chief Superintendent Matt Bell, Borough Commander of Lambeth, said: "The unarmed officers who tackled this suspect showed incredible bravery and put their lives on the line in order to protect the public.
"Incidents such as this demonstrate the lengths that Metropolitan Police officers go to on a daily basis in the fight against crime."
