A Muslim trust honoured those who took part in charitable work during 2013 at a House of Commons ceremony this week.

The Noor Ul Islam Trust in Leyton organised the event to acknowledge those who helped the trust either by their voluntary work or by fundraising during Ramadan when over £27,000, a record amount for the trust, was raised.

The money was donated to those in need in Bangladesh, Palestine, Syria and Sudan.

Leyton and Wanstead MP John Cryer congratulated the trust for its continued support of those in need at home and abroad.

“The trust’s volunteers excelled themselves while working tirelessly to raise money for those in other countries,” he said.
