A sponsorship scheme that teaches children a new sporting or educational skill is being launched for families in Epsom and Cobham.

Online children's activity guide Kallikids is offering 22 children a sponsorship deal that will see them take part in new experiences, including swimming, tennis, acting and singing.

The Sponsor My Child Initiative will pay for each child's training for a year, and document their progress through blogs and photos.

The company has teamed up with a number of providers across Surrey and Sussex, including Topsin Monkeys tennis coaching in Cobham, Aquatots in Epsom and Tadworth and Dandelion Theatre Arts in Epsom.

Karen Bach, founder of Kallikids, said: “We’re launching Sponsor My Child to help children discover new interests and talents. "A new activity is not only an opportunity to gain a new skill, but is also a great way of aiding a child's social development, building confidence, a way to have fun and to keep the kids entertained.

“Throughout each child's journey we will document their progress via regular blog posts and photos. "We will also film their development throughout the year.

"Children who are old enough will be encouraged to write about their experience and how much they are learning.

“Once the year has finished the children will have the option to take part in an awards ceremony, to celebrate their hard work and achievements."

Parents can apply for their child to be sponsored for a year by completing an online application form by Sunday, February 2.
