Is this your hamster?

The ginger and white Syrian hamster was found opposite The Manor Arms pub, Mitcham Lane, on Wednesday afternoon.

Runaway 'Betty' is being cared for by Sara Austin, a hair and make-up artist from Streatham, who described a few small tears on the hamster's ears and a couple of scuffs on her body.

She said: "She was a bit shy but I'm sure she's fine. She doesn't bite so I'm sure it's someone's pet."

If you are the owner, please contact Sara on 07791 675033 with photographs of the pet as proof of ownership.

suggest she also contacts local primary school. When I found a hamster in the street, it had come from the primary school a couple of streets away. The nearby vet helped.
