A health watchdog is inviting Richmond people to give feedback on how to improve GP services in the borough.

Healthwatch Richmond, which helps to shape local health and social care services by giving residents a voice, is hosting an evening workshop to share their experiences and help drive improvements in healthcare in the local area.

The evening will bring together the public, GPs, professionals and other key decision makers at Clarendon Hall, Twickenham, from 6pm to 8pm on January 23.

It comes after national data revealed that the quality of London’s GP services, including Richmond, lagged behind the national average.

Feedback from local patients, carers, and the public has also revealed disparities in the quality of care received from GP surgeries in Richmond.

Mike Derry, Chief Officer of Healthwatch Richmond, said: “The two main things this event will look at are access to GPs and patient satisfaction – are they happy with the care they’re getting?

“It’s important that we hear from as broad a group of patients as possible about what is important to them and what would make a real difference to their lives.”

Christine Percival, strategic cabinet member for health and children’s services at Richmond Council, said: “We know that there are currently no GP services in North Kew, which gives me considerable concern and there wasn’t one in Hampton North either last time I heard. We are aware that there are gaps in provision but most of our GPs are very good.”
