A council committee has agreed a need for change over the post of chief executive but raised concerns over the level of engagement with recent decisions.

Members of Harrow Borough Council’s special overview and scrutiny committee reviewed a report into proposals to get rid of the position last night.

In the report, the committee’s challenge panel agreed there was a need for change in the management of the council.

However it also suggests that the proposal to delete the post of chief executive lacked the level of engagement which they feel such a significant decision requires.

In October last year leader of the council Susan Hall announced a consultation to get rid of the role as a cost saving measure.

And in November, Harrow Council’s chief executive Michael Lockwood announced he would leave his role after a deal made at meeting of the chief officer’s employment panel.

Check in with the Harrow Times later today for more details about the committees report.
