Heavy rainfall may have caused traffic lights in Kingston town centre to go on the blink for the third day running according to Transport For London, writes Faris Al-Jawad.

Traffic lights in Kingston Hall Road were not working near Kingston College today. The road was part coned off this afternoon with a van nearby although the lights appeared to be working again.

The failure follows pedestrians forced to dash across the one-way system outside Kingston station yesterday and Monday.

A spokesman for TfL said late this afternoon: "The failure has been caused by a damaged cable, possibly due to the bad weather. A team is currently on the scene fixing the problem."

Kingston Hall is the fifth road in Kingston to be affected by traffic light failures in the last three days along with Wood Street, Richmond Road, Cromwell Road and Clarence Street.
