Merton police borough commander Darren Williams suspended by Met over misconduct allegations
Merton’s top policeman Chief Superintendant Darren Williams has been suspended from duty.
The action, taken earlier today, has come following complaints from fellow police employees relating to his conduct, a matter now under investigation by the Directorate of Professional Standards.
A spokesman for the police confirmed there will be no further details given that may confirm the identity of the complainants.
Detective Chief Superintendent Darren Williams, who joined Merton in February 2012 from Bexley, has served as an officer for 26 years.
Superintendent David Palmer will act as the Borough Commander for Merton while the investigation is concluded.
A police spokesman said: “The Metropolitan Police Service expects all officers and staff to maintain the highest standards of conduct, where they fall short of this standard we will take the most appropriate action.”
