Further floods have hit Surrey, with roads in Cobham, Weybridge and Thames Ditton closed.

The Environment Agency gave people flood warnings last night and told them to stay prepared for more flooding for the rest of the week, as water continues to fall on saturated ground.

The River Mole burst its banks again, flooding several roads.

The A245 Mill Road, in Cobham is flooded for about 20 yards but is passable with care, as is Portsmouth Road between the A3 Painshill and Fairmile Lane.

A Hurst Park resident, who did not want to be named, said he was keeping a close eye on the water levels and preparing a contingency plan.

He said: “I am checking on an hourly basis. It’s not as bad as it has been but could get there, I haven’t got to the stage of moving my belongings upstairs.”

People are advised to check before they travel and visit the council and Environment Agency website for advice on flooding.

Paul Mustow, flood risk manager at the Environment Agency (EA), said: “The risk of flooding continues this week, with communities in the south west and south east urged to be particularly vigilant.

“Environment Agency teams have again been out in force over the weekend checking and maintaining flood defences, clearing blockages in watercourses, deploying temporary defences and monitoring water levels and will continue to work around the clock to protect communities at risk.

“We would ask people to be prepared by checking their flood risk, signing up to free flood warnings and keeping an eye on the latest flood updates via the EA website and Twitter.”
