A landowner hoping to turn playing fields into a touring caravan site says he has evidence to show the proposals will work.

Harrow Community Sports Ltd submitted plans to Harrow Borough Council last week to turn part of Broadfields playing fields into a caravan and camping site with 75 pitches.

This is not the first application for the Headstone Lane site after similar proposals were submitted last year but withdrawn after council planning officers recommended councillors refuse the plans.

The owner says the latest application has a number of reports supporting the application with evidence that the size and type of vehicles involved with caravanning can safely enter the site.

The reports also argue the site would cause no adverse impact on the habitat, biodiversity and heritage of the site.

Owner Richard Gabriel also says there is a demand for touring caravan sites in North West London and using the site for sport is no longer financially viable for the company.
