A Grinch-like thief made off with £2,500 worth of jewellery from a Whitton home on Christmas Day.
At about 2.30pm in Strathearn Avenue, the 43-year-old male victim left his property secure but when he returned at 10.45pm, discovered the kitchen window at the rear of the house had been smashed.
He found there had been an untidy search of one of the bedrooms, with several items of jewellery missing, worth about £2,500.
One of the items taken was a distinctive onyx ring with cluster of diamonds on a white gold band.
Police are appealing for information, with witnesses asked to contact police on 101 or to remain anonymous call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
