Volunteers from St John Ambulance in Potters Bar have been given a new defibrillator unit thanks to a council grant.
The association was given £2,100 to buy the equipment and a training pack from Hertfordshire County Council’s locality budget.
Defibrillators use electric currents to restart the heart after a patient has gone into cardiac arrest.
Councillor Peter Knell arranged the donation from his pot of £10,000 given to each of the county’s 77 councillors to dole out to community groups and projects each year.
