Children and teenagers living with life-limiting conditions were given a festive surprise when rugby players from Harlequins stopped by their hospice for a Christmas party.

Players helped children decorate cakes and showed off moves on the dance floor when they visited Shooting Star Chase on December 23.

Harlequins have been supporters of Shooting Star Chas for a number of years and captain Chris Robshaw said the team always enjoyed coming to Shooting Star House.

He said: “It’s brilliant to come down and get involved in the party.

“Whenever we come down it always puts things into perspective but it’s also a lot of fun to be here. We’ve been singing and dancing – Ugo Monye always likes to show off his dance moves.”

The players brought a cheque for £1,000, which had been raised through the squad’s fines fund.

Robshaw said: “The fines build up over the year when we’re naughty – things like being late or forgetting kit – and we realised it would probably be spent more wisely by the hospice than us.”
