Vulnerable elderly people across the borough were able to enjoy a traditional Christmas dinner thanks to Meals on Wheels delivery staff.

Staff from the Harrow Borough Council service delivered a festive meal with all the trimmings to some of the area’s most vulnerable people on Christmas day.

Bernard Glanville, who enjoyed his Christmas lunch, said: "The meals are an absolute cracker, I really appreciate the service that the council provides.

“The drivers always arrive on time and with a smile on their face and it makes my day, I’m happy being looked after by people who care and I welcome their friendship.

“I think the service is excellent and I rely on it all year round.”

The meals on wheels team were joined by portfolio holder for adults and housing Cllr Barry Macleod-Cullinane on their festive rounds.

He said: “I’m extremely proud of our meals on wheels team for their hard work and amazing dedication. Every Christmas they help bring some festive joy into people’s homes.

“This service isn’t just about delivering a meal; it’s also about providing additional support for our residents.

“Having a member of the council’s Meals on Wheels team visiting some of our most vulnerable service users each and every day is invaluable and is very much part of our commitment to making Harrow a cleaner, safer and fairer borough.”
