As the festive season draws to a close for another year, the Desborough Players will ring in 2014 with their latest pantomime.

Based on the classic tale Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson, the group’s performance is a retelling of the story, rewritten by Alan P Frayn.

Following the adventures of Jim Hawkins, played by Charlotte Cairns, the pantomime focuses on the mysterious treasure map and Hawkins’ journey to find the lost island and claim the booty of infamous Captain Flint for himself and his family.

But it would not be a pantomime without Hawkins gaining a little help along the way.

Long John Silver, played by Bob Barton, and his wooden leg will be back in all his glory, trying all of his dastardly tricks to get hold of the map and the treasure.

With the help of his pirate friends Blind Ali, played by Charlie Mullard, and Sea-Snake Sally, played by Victoria Platt, it seems that Silver will stop at nothing to get what he wants.

Along with a host of returning cast members, Jane Cairns will once again assume the role of director after years of sell out shows with the Desborough Players and her experience is guaranteed to leave both children and adults in fits of laughter.

The group will also perform two charity nights to raise money for Sam Beare Hospice and Mencap.
