As the festive season draws to a close for another year, trees will be packed up into their boxes or thrown out as rubbish.

One charitable Esher tree chipper will be using his skills to raise money for Princess Alice Hospice and will help to get rid of Christmas trees on January 4 and 5, for a donation for the Esher hospice.

Simon Paul, of Green Solutions, said: “Everyone knows the hassle of trying to get rid of their Christmas tree after the festive season is finished, and I thought this would be a great way to solve that as well as benefiting a local charity.”

Mr Paul will chip down trees across Esher, Thames Ditton, Molesey and neighbouring areas in return for a £5 donation a tree He said: “I can chip up to around 150 trees a day, and at £5 a tree, I could make a big difference.

“I felt it was a really good idea to do something for charity and Princess Alice Hospice is local to me.

“My dad was cared for by the hospice and a good friend of mines Dad was cared for there too.”
