Police have warned people against trusting bogus builders hoping to cash in on damage caused by recent storms.

Chief Inspector Nick Collins said people should not trust supposed workers who come to their doors without invitation or cold call them as they may not be genuine and could charge excessive fees for substandard work.

Sutton Council runs the Safer Sutton Trader Scheme to provide people with a list of approved workers. For further information contact the council on 020 8770 5070, email  trading.standards@sutton.gov.uk or click here.
