A teenage girl has died after emergency services discovered her burning in the street.

Police, fire and ambulance services were called to the junction of West Barnes Lane and Burlington Road just after 1am this morning to reports there was someone on fire.

Sadly when they arived they discovered a woman, believed to be aged 18, neadby the level crossing near Raynes Park High School and the Tesco, was pronounced dead.

She had suffered severe burns.

A police spokesman confirmed they believe they know the identity of the woman and have informed next of kin but are awaiting formal identification.

At the moment the incident is being treated as unexplained but at this early stage officers believe the fire started at a property in nearby Link Way.
