A NEW dogs-on-lead zone could be brought in at Jeskyns woods near Cobham in a bid to cut down on uncontrolled pets.
The Forestry Commission has put forward the proposal after recommendations from Kent Police, due to a high number of incidents relating to uncontrolled dogs.
The consultation said: "The aim of the proposal is to provide a part of Jeskyns that everyone can visit with confidence knowing that they should not encounter uncontrolled dogs.
"The scheme allows dogs to remain off lead in all other public areas of site and includes the creation of a Fun Dog Activity Trail.
"It also incorporates measures to enable dog swimming to continue at Henhurst Lake."
Ranger Denise Bird said: “We have received many comments on this proposal, and opinions are significantly divided. Whatever your viewpoint, we do need to make changes at Jeskyns.”
The commission is asking people to take part in a consultation that starts in January.
