A school for children with a debilitating condition is due to double in size after its expansion plans were approved by Haringey Borough Council.
The London Centre for Children with Cerebral Palsy, in Muswell Hill, wants to build new facilities, take on twice the number of students and provide more classes for Year 9 pupils and those taking their GCSEs.
It will also include a community space and hydrotherapy pool shared with other charities to benefit those with Parkinsons and a range of other conditions.
There are also plans to build six family homes and 22 apartments on the site.
The plans for the expansion were unanimously approved by the authority’s planning committee on December 19.
Marc Crank, the centre’s chief executive, said the news was fantastic.
He said: “We will begin fundraising in earnest for the £1m needed for the fit out of the new Centre in January 2014.
“We couldn’t have asked for a better Christmas gift or start to the New Year.
“We have had tremendous support from our neighbours and the local community.”
