Charity break a habit challenge launched by St Luke’s Hospice

People are being called to sign up to a charity detox to help them recover from their festive excesses.

St Luke’s Hospice is looking for people to take part in the Break the Habit challenge throughout January 2014 to raise money for the charity.

Those taking part will be asked to get sponsorship from their friends or family to give up a bad habit for the month.

The bad habit could be anything from drinking, smoking to chocolate or fast food and the charity hope it will be a help to those wanting to stick to their New Year’s resolution.

Neil Russell, who has already signed up to the campaign, said: “‘A pint of beer has about 200 calories and drinking 3 or 4 pints in an evening is equivalent to eating a pizza.

“So cutting it out in January means that I can cut an inch or two off my waistline.

“I have seen for myself how hard the team at St Luke’s work to raise the funds they need to provide free care for patients and families, and it’s good to be able to do something to help.”

All money raised from the challenge will go to the hospice which looks after people with cancer and other serious progressive illnesses in Harrow and Brent.

Those interested in signing up to this January’s event can do so by going to www.stlukes-hospice.org/breakahabit or calling 020 8382 8018 to get your challenge pack.
