Christmas has come early for a cash-strapped charity which is celebrating a £300 donation and wrapping presents with an MP this week.

The Galaxy Hot Chocolate Fund has donated £300 to the Sunnybank Trust, which helps more than 250 people with learning disabilities in Epsom.

The charity runs a weekly social club, an advocacy programme and friends scheme.

Club volunteer Joanna Matthews said: "We can now provide tabletop games such as checkers, arts and crafts sets and painting at our weekly activity club."

Epsom and Ewell MP Chris Grayling helped to wrap presents with the Sunny Bank Trust at the Ashley Centre in Epsom today.

Barclays Bank is match funding the amount raised by the present wrapping service.

The Epsom Guardian is running an appeal, Shine On, to help the charity raise £75,000 by April after its funding from trusts dried up due to the recession.
