An Ofsted inspection report has given Southborough High School a good rating this week.

The Hook Road school in Surbiton was visited by inspectors on December 3 and 4 where its leadership and management, achievement of pupils, quality of teaching and behaviour and safety of pupils was rated good.

The school was also rated good in its last Ofsted inspection before it became an academy in March 2012.

Headteacher Niall Smith said: "I am very proud of the hard work and dedication of our students, staff and stakeholders, which has resulted in this very pleasing report."

Areas which need improvement for the school to progress and become an outstanding school include teachers planning lessons better and providing better feedback to students.

There are currently 700 students at the school and last week the boys helped to pack food items they had donated to the charity Foodbank.
