A new service to treat children with less serious illnesses quickly has been opened at Chase Farm Hospital.
The Paediatric Assessment Unit at the Enfield hospital is led by consultants and will be located next to the newly formed Urgent Care Centre.
The urgent care centre was opened to treat people of all ages with urgent but not life-threatening illnesses and injuries in place of the accident and emergency that closed earlier this month.
Consultant paediatrician Simon Roth said: “The new Paediatric Assessment Unit provides a unique opportunity for children to be seen and assessed by a consultant paediatrician if necessary, outside an acute hospital setting.
“If further treatment of investigations are required your child may be referred to a neighbouring hospital but if you want your child to been seen quickly go to the Paediatric Assessment Unit at Chase Farm Hospital.”
