Confusion about safety at Enfield Carnival caused a disastrously low turnout in August.

There had been fears the event would not take place due to the closure of the Brimsdown Sports and Social Club grounds in Goldsdown Road, Enfield the Thursday before the event.

Although the festival did go ahead in the end, only 20 people attended the event.

Enfield Town Park lost its "crown jewel" in August, when Enfield Bowls Club was forced to close.

The club club had been in existence for 88 years, but its vice president Frank Davey said it could not continue after it lost its parking spaces at Palace Gardens multi-storey car park.

And a a mother and her six children were forced to evacuate their home after perfume bottles caused a fire at their house in Hydeside Road.

Bright sunlight shining through the bottles at a home in Lower Edmonton resulted in a blaze which damaged both floors of the house.

Finally, there was cause for celebration amongst many teenagers as GCSE and A-Level results as Enfield schools bucked a national trend of falling results, with many seeing a significant improvement.

Of 18 schools, 15 saw a rise in the proportion of pupils achieving five A* to C grades including English and maths.

The average across the borough's schools rose from 55.5 per cent in 2012 to 63 per cent.
