Budding songwriters can start penning their own tunes under the guidance of two music writers.

In the new year, Robb Whiteman and Amie Pendarves will launch the Songbirds Songwriting workshops, where children can write and record their own melodies and lyrics.

Youngsters can then produce their own original songs to take home and share with family and friends.

Robb, 23, and Amie, 26, started writing together while studying for masters degrees in song writing at Bath Spa University and now live in East Sheen.

When they are not writing songs, Robb is a primary teacher and private tutor, and Amie runs a singing teaching business.

Amie says: “Setting up Songbirds Songwriting seemed to be the next logical step for us.

“We wanted to merge both our passion for teaching and writing songs to create something fresh and exciting for children to get involved with.

“The song writing process is a creative way for children to develop a broad range skills including writing, researching, collaboration and musicianship.

“We believe in its massive educational potential and the children seem to love it.”

Songbirds Songwriting at Landmark Arts Centre, Ferry Road, Teddington; Classes start in January every Thursday, 5.30pm to 6.30pm. Free introductory session; £15 per session thereafter.
