The MP for Tottenham has become the latest person to join the Haringey Credit Union.
David Lammy signed up to the saving and lending scheme as part of an ongoing campaign against payday lenders.
He handed out leaflets advertising the scheme alongside Labour candidate for MP of Hornsey and Wood Green Councillor Catherine West outside Wood Green library, in High Road, Wood Green, this morning.
Mr Lammy said: “I am proud to be a member of Haringey’s Credit Union.
“It is important for constituents to know that there is an alternative to pay-day loans and predatory loan sharks.
“By saving with the local credit union, I know my savings are being used to help people avoid the pay day lending trap.”
Credit union activists also took to the street to raise awareness of the low cost loans offered by the credit union as an alternative.
