EXTRA cash has led to a touch more festive sparkle in Chislehurst this Christmas.
This year the town has brand new lights thanks to the Chislehurst Business Group managing to get funding from 62 businesses, and the council’s shopping parades improvement initiative fund.
And people from across the area gathered outside the Queen’s Head pub to watch them be turned on for the first time.
Father Christmas, Mickey and Minnie Mouse did the honours and the crowds enjoyed mulled wine and while watching dancers from All the Arts Theatre School.
Chislehurst Business Group secretary Clare Herriot said: “There was an amazing turn out and at one point I felt mobbed as I counted down, squished between Mickie, Minnie, Santa and the crowd.
“Our Christmas lights bring life and spirit to Chislehurst and what better way to celebrate that by inviting the local community to join us for this special occasion.
“We are grateful to all who helped make it possible and to the businesses who work hard to support the lights and promote Chislehurst.”
